You know how no one learns to drive on their own? We make sure teens get this type of support through mentors. (make MM specific for this one?)
Being involved with foster care is hard enough. We find people to help make it easier. (general?)(make one for support groups specifically? lot of focus there)

The Stakes:

ONEAre you a new foster parent? Maybe you're in the 50% of parents that are thinking of quitting in the first year. Are you a seasoned foster parent? Have you gotten jaded to the difficulties of fostering? We find volunteers that can make it easier on you.
Maybe you're a youth in foster care. Many of you don't graduate high school. Even fewer of you will get a post graduate degree or certification. Do you want to have someone in your life that can help you be successful with school or a career path?
Michiana Family Center was created to be a support network for youth and family like this who could use a little extra support to keep being in the foster care community.(too many issues? focused on those we're helping)
TWOThe foster care community is losing half of parents in the first year. Youth are aging out and failing to get an education which leads to higher incarceration and homelessness. Social workers are looking for resources to support their families. Trauma behaviors are driving caregivers into hopelessness. What are you doing to support the foster care community?(again, too many issues? focused on volunteers reading)
THREEFoster parents say yes to a daunting task when they bring a new child into their home. Many of them don't have a support network in place, so they close their foster license. Simple, tangible things are what families are asking for. Then they'd be able to keep their license open. What can you do to help support them? What passions and strengths do you already have that you could put to use helping the foster community?(short, succinct, one problem: foster parents have it hard and need help. focused on volunteers reading)

The Value Proposition

We don't see stakes any higher than serving families (different word? caregivers but then care later) who care for the most vulnerable children in our society. The help we provide through volunteers like you saves lives. Parents who want to help feel more equipped because of respite given by people like YOU. One hour a month can keep a foster home open. (volunteer button here)

The Guide:

Joining with MFC to help foster parents is easy. We'll take an inventory of your strengths, then match you with a family that needs what YOU ALREADY HAVE. (volunteer now button here)

The Explanatory Paragraph:

At Michiana Family Center we know you are the kind of people who want to be a support to the foster care system. In order to be that way, you need a plan for giving your time and finances to. The problem is finding a resource who actually knows how to help foster families in your area, which makes you feel worried your resources are going to waste. We believe it should be easy to trust and give of your resources to help foster families. We understand finding an organization to trust and partner with can be daunting. That's why we created an independent organization that can be trusted to serve the entire community of foster parents, regardless of their situation. Here's how it works: you apply to be a volunteer here, then complete a background check including training, then you're matched with a family you can support with what you already know how to do and enjoy. So, if you have time, volunteer here. If you have funds, donate here. Then you can stop being stuck in a loop of indecision and frustration. Once you do, you'll start enjoying the impact you have on a family as you see them thrive because of your support.
How do I know I can trust MFC with my time and money? We're certified through Candid for transparency. You can look up our profile here and see what we do. Our tax information is public knowledge too. You can read our most recent 990 here on the IRS webpage. Don't foster parents have children who have massive behavior problems? Simply, children who are being cared for by foster parents are just that, children. Yes, some have higher behavior issues than others, just like children who haven't experienced foster care. We train and equip you to know how to handle these minority of cases. The majority of the time, you're spending time with parents and kids just like your friends and their kids.Won't I have to volunteer every day to make a difference in a parent's life? Absolutely not. MFC has seen one hour per month make a real difference in a parent's life. Over time, you'll build a relationship with the family you're caring for and may want to spend more time. If you don't, that's ok too. One hour per month is twelve hours each year. That's half a day of help a parent didn't have before you joined their Care Team. Will I have to travel a long way to help a foster family? We ask what you're willing to drive and then stick within that general area. If you want to help in your small town, we'll make sure that's where you help. If you're willing to drive one county over, we'll keep that in mind as we receive families from both counties. We even serve both Indiana and Michigan so if you're close to the border, state of residence isn't an issue.I'm only comfortable with kids of __ age. Will I need to serve kids who are younger or older than that? Definitely not. MFC asks for your input on what you are comfortable with. Then we make sure you have a family to serve within that range. No need to worry about handling something outside your age of preference.
