AISLING SOLAREK

Executive Director

Aisling (Ashling) Solarek was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. She traveled to America and received her bachelor's in education from Maranatha University in Wisconsin. This is where she met her husband James and decided to stay in America.
She’s the mom to six children, a Golden Doodle named Curry, and a Cavapoo name Harle. Aisling has been in the Foster/adoption community for the past 15 years. She has adopted 4 of her children and has learned a lot about what is needed to love and support families, especially children from hard places. Aisling loves God and others and considers her life mission to make sure children know they are loved and safe.

She loves to travel to new places and wishes every day was summer. Aisling is a foster mom and understands that six kids are probably her max! That is why she founded Michiana Family Center, to train and equip others to mentor and love the foster care community alongside her and her family.

MARY HUFF

Family Advocate

Mary has called the Michiana area home for most of her life and has always had a heart for serving others—a passion she credits to her parents and the example of service they modeled throughout her childhood. In 2016, Mary felt called to become a foster parent. Over the next six years, she opened her home and heart to 92 children. Her journey continued in 2023 when she began serving as a volunteer CASA, advocating for children and families involved in the child welfare system for three years.
Although Mary is no longer a foster parent, her passion for foster children, kinship families, and the people who walk alongside them remains at the heart of her work. Her firsthand experiences as both a foster parent and CASA have given her a unique perspective and allow her to serve others with empathy, patience, compassion, and kindness. Outside of her work, Mary loves spending time with her four biological children and her many bonus children. She has a lifelong love of music, expressed through playing both piano and cello. She also enjoys traveling, reading, writing, and finding every opportunity to enjoy the outdoors—especially when the Midwest weather cooperates!
Mary believes that every child deserves to feel safe, supported, valued, and loved, and she is passionate about helping families find the encouragement and resources they need along the way.
